Building information modelling

Building information modelling (BIM) is becoming industry standard in the delivery of built environment projects.

More than just a way of creating the documentation needed to construct a building, BIM has changed the way developers, architects, engineers, contractors and other consultants work together — increasing productivity during design and construction.

BIM’s three-dimensional computer models improve collaboration and decision-making, enable easy trialling of design variations and multi-user working, eliminate repetitive amendments, enable clash detection between disciplines, allow real-time scheduling, and provide accurate cost and quantity estimates.

Engineers at Whitby Wood use the latest BIM technology for structural design. In addition, our associate practice WME has completed a number of projects in the Middle East using Autodesk Revit, the leading BIM platform, which includes links to the computational fluid dynamics software required for analyses such as wind loading.
