Virgo IT Park
Complex architectural form achieved using rationalised structure

A Ramboll project

Virgo IT Park is a new office complex with an interesting architectural form. Structurally, it’s a single concrete frame building but it appears to be composed of interlocking modules.

The site is located in Bagmane Constellation Tech Park (BCTP) in Bangalore’s IT corridor.

The structural system developed for the project is based on a 10.8m x 10.8m grid, using conventional flat slabs with drop panels to achieve two basement levels and 12 floors. The foundation system uses 2m deep isolated footings, and the total development delivers an area of 12 lakh sq ft (111,500 sq m), with 7,500 sq m of lettable space per floor.

The basements and lower podium levels house parking, accessed at first floor level via a dramatic ramp. The main entrance lobby is at the second storey level, which also includes a landscaped terrace.

Whitby Wood’s Mukesh Pritamdasani led the structural engineering team.
