Rationalised structure to aid construction
For this residential project in Chiswick, West London, we rationalised an existing structural solution post-planning to aid the contractor in its efficient construction.

The One Housing Group is a developer and provider of housing plus healthcare services. They fund the construction of what they call “housing, care and support” places by building commercial developments for the open market. The Sutton Court project provides 15 supported places in a new-build three-storey complex specifically intended to help people live independently.

As designed, the brick-clad building was timber frame. We provided a fast-track service to the contractor, changing the frame to concrete, on pad footings founded on gravel. The tiled roof is framed in steel, which enabled speedy realisation of the complex geometry and multiple pitches required by the architect.

Other features include a communal conservatory at the back of the building, and the installation of two stained glass windows saved from the demolition of the Victorian house that previously occupied the site.
