ASSOCIATE, UK
She stresses the importance of taking a wider view of each scheme and “approaching technical challenges holistically, taking into consideration the impact that a design decision may have on other disciplines and the constructability of a project.”
She is the point of contact for a diverse range of multidisciplinary projects, liaising with clients, design teams and contractors to deliver high-quality, efficient and buildable engineering solutions from concept to construction. She is adept at ensuring projects are completed within the agreed timeframe and budget, while managing client expectations and meeting the needs of each brief.
Maria is responsible for scheme design and detailed structural design within the in-house teams she leads and manages, as well as mentoring junior staff members. She values forging strong relationships with project stakeholders and working with them to address difficulties. As she says, “I enjoy working as part of a team of people with different expertise to deliver one collaborative design — after all, I have found that a collaborative approach delivers the best results. Seeing something I have been a part of designing come to fruition is very rewarding.”
Maria specialises in new build mixed-use and residential developments, educational buildings, and exploring options for the alteration, refurbishment and extension of existing structures.
Her notable projects include Sedgemere Road high-rise residential tower on brownfield site, The Candle Factory residential tower, commercial building and adaptation of heritage buildings on a constrained site, Camden M&S mixed-use retention and extension, Westrock Bank House residential development on shared podium and basement, GB2 Data Centre with industrial buildings, Bellevue Mansions residential development and Sackville House combining two heritage buildings with refurbishment and vertical extension.
