Forest Road E17 completes : new affordable homes

March 2024
Whitby Wood joined in the celebrations for the completion of Forest Road E17 this week— a purpose-built residential scheme in East London delivering 90 one-bedroom affordable homes for local first-time buyers. The new Pocket Living homes are on a prominent site opposite Lloyd Park and the Grade II* listed William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow.

The opening ceremony hosted by Pocket Living and contractor Legendre UK took place on the generous new roof terrace. Invited guests included the Deputy Mayor of London for Housing, Tom Copley, and the Leader of Waltham Forest Council, Cllr Grace Williams.

Whitby Wood provided structural and civil engineering for the Gort Scott-designed building, which occupies a roughly triangular brownfield site. The design uses three, four and five storey sections to create a massing that responds to the scale of neighbouring buildings on each frontage.

Associate Director Daniel Zwetsloot said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to support our clients Pocket Living, followed by Legendre, in building much needed, truly affordable homes locally to me in Waltham Forest.”

Congratulations to all the team!
