Chris Papanastasiou

Chris is a chartered structural engineer and Director, with a strong track record in delivering technically demanding buildings and infrastructure across the UK and internationally.

He combines a practical, construction-led mindset with a deep understanding of complex structural systems, enabling efficient and robust solutions from concept through to completion. Chris has particular experience with long span structures, transfer and interface design, and projects in constrained urban contexts where early technical clarity and commercial control create real client value.

Since joining Whitby Wood, Chris has played a key role in nurturing strong collaborative relationships with clients, architects and contractors, alongside project delivery. He brings purposeful leadership to design quality and technical excellence, with a focus on clarity of responsibility, proactive risk management and aligned delivery outcomes.

Outside of project work, Chris is committed to mentoring the next generation of engineers, and advocates for solutions that are both buildable and resilient within broader sustainability and programme ambitions.
