Anthony Timberlands Center highly commended
at the 2023 World Architecture Awards

December 2023
The Anthony Timberlands Center for Design and Materials Innovation has been highly commended in the Future Projects : Education category at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2023 Awards in Singapore. The scheme also won the 2023 prize for Visualisation.

The Anthony Timberlands Center will be an extension to the Fay Jones School of Architecture & Design at the University of Arkansas, USA, and a home for applied research into timber and its use in construction. Whitby Wood’s expertise in timber engineering and embodied carbon reduction contributed to the team’s ability to produce an exceptional design solution — an exemplar of appropriate and sustainable development.

The judges commended the scheme as, “A museum to timber and sympathetic to local identity using every species of local trees. Impeccable use of composition, lighting and materials.”

The WAF awards recognise excellence in both completed architectural works and those planned for the near future. It is the only awards programme where all finalists present their projects live to a panel of judges as part of the festival.

Congratulations to all!
