ASSOCIATE, SUSTAINABILITY
She sums up her ethos by saying, “My goal is to bridge the gap between vision and reality by integrating sustainability seamlessly into the design process. I want to change the narrative and demonstrate that sustainable design is not an add-on but an essential, functional component of every project.”
Hunyum’s forte is business development — guiding sustainability teams towards growth and success through strategy development and performance management. She focuses on creating comprehensive strategic frameworks to fulfil clients’ goals for ESG (environmental, social and governance), decarbonisation and net-zero pathways. By building strong relationships and crafting tailored sustainability solutions that align with industry standards and client objectives, she also fosters improvements in long-term environmental impacts.
Hunyum believes in working with design teams to explore their sustainability aspirations for each scheme and using opportunities for sustainable gains to drive the design process onwards. An effective leader and mentor, she excels at client liaison and coordinating with stakeholders to deliver integrated sustainable solutions and ensure optimum outcomes for clients and developments.
She is an expert in understanding and using frameworks like SBTi, legislation such as EU taxonomy, national/local regulations, sustainability standards including UK net zero criteria, certification schemes and more. Her skills enable her to undertake asset and portfolio reviews, with the aim of bridging the gap between design and implementation.
As Hunyum says succinctly, “I understand that modern buildings are not one size fits all … and that no blueprint exists to define what a sustainable outcome looks like.”
As a result, Hunyum’s motivation is to find the best, and most appropriate, sustainable outcome for every building project requiring her advice and direction. Her extensive experience encompasses masterplans, high rise buildings and refurbishment schemes including working in Europe, the Middle East, North America and South-East Asia.
