DIRECTOR, SERBIA
Saša’s technical and project management skills — developed over more than 28 years — have contributed to major projects, using a wide range of structural forms and materials. As well as leading projects, he has often acted as technical advisor, guiding teams in the Middle East and India, and finding solutions for the challenges that arise as projects move into construction. His experience covers work in the commercial, residential, retail, health, transport, education, arts, leisure and infrastructure sectors, and effective seismic, water retention and bridge engineering design.
Past projects include the monumental UAE Pavilion for Dubai EXPO 2020, designed by Santiago Calatrava. Saša was structural project director, working on detailed design on behalf of WME Consultants, where he was a director for six years and led a team of 45 engineers. Among the many other projects he worked on in the region is the Luxembourg Pavilion at Dubai EXPO 2020 and Dubai Eye Chandelier, as well as the super-high rise Fountain Views, where he provided technical advice. Also in the Middle East are the Education City Stadium legacy conversion project in Doha, Qatar, and the Mall of Egypt in Cairo. The Mall is one of the biggest shopping centres in North Africa.
Other notable projects include The Cube in Birmingham, UK — a 25-storey iconic mixed-use building designed by Make Architects and engineered by Buro Happold. He has worked on many projects in Canada, including as lead structural engineer for the design of the five-storey Link Building joining terminals at Vancouver International Airport.
Saša is interested in projects that help humanity and in sustainable design. He is keen to support engineers in the delivery of more carbon-efficient structures, helping find practical solutions that meet project ambitions but also address the wider issues we face as a community.
He is a member of professional institutions in Canada, UK, Serbia and UAE.
