His expertise includes the leadership of teams undertaking the design, delivery and project management of large complex schemes, many of which involve interfaces with existing infrastructure, such as canals, multiple utility networks, and underground and overground railways. Examples include the new BBC Broadcasting House in central London, St David’s II shopping centre in Cardiff, a number of British embassies, and several residential and commercial buildings at Kings Cross in London.
Prior to founding Whitby Wood, Seb set up a 140-person multi-disciplinary building design business in New Delhi, India. Before that he was based in London, leading the largest UK structural engineering team at Ramboll UK, working on schemes in the UK, Middle East and South-east Asia. As a graduate, he joined engineering consultancy whitbybird (co-founded by Mark Whitby), working alongside Mark for many years before its merger with Ramboll.
Seb is a Masters graduate in Leadership for Sustainable Development, the joint initiative programme set up by Forum for the Future and Middlesex University. He was a founding trustee of the construction industry-led development charity CODEP, which worked in the Sierra Leone town of Waterloo. He is also a founding trustee of the Whitbybird Foundation.
