Transformative project wins two Bristol Property Awards

November 2023
Our reinvigoration of One Hundred, the creative adaptation of a 1990s concrete frame office building in Bristol, has won two categories at the Bristol Property Awards — for commercial development and transformation.

Whitby Wood worked on the repurposing of the existing building stock, adding two additional storeys, recladding, extending the floor plates of the main facade and introducing low-carbon energy measures. Our engineers specified a series of intrusive structural investigations to justify the existing frame for the planned load increases, and addressed the challenges associated with the flood risk.

The judges lauded the complicated retrofit scheme as a gateway to Bristol and a “Boundary pushing, visually interesting development. Impressively carbon neutral too.”

The repurposed development won a second award for its transformation of the, “Highest quality development of a dilapidated building into a best-in-class workplace. Ambitious, striking, successful.”

Congratulations to all involved.
